Graduation Celebration
Wednesday, May 8, 2002 Edition
Wahoo! She did it! My Aunt Katie graduated from Miami University this past weekend. She looked great in her cap and gown. We went over on Friday to see her. I got to stay at her apartment. I felt like a real college coed. Mom and Dad said I'd better enjoy it now, because I was living at home for my college days. (My mom doesn't like to let me out of her sight!)
On Saturday the WHOLE crew drove down... Nonna, Grandpa, and GG of course... Uncle Bryan & Uncle JJ had both flown in from Washington... and I finally got to meet my Great Nana and Great Grandpa from Boston. WOW. It was pretty exciting.
I have never seen so many people in black in my whole entire life! (all 5 months of it) They all had these funny, flat hats with strings on them. I thought I'd never find Aunt Katie in that mess, but I did. She was the best looking in the bunch.
We had a very nice dinner at the restaurant where Aunt Katie works. I got to party uptown!
Then we all went back to Columbus. Uncle Bryan, Dad, Mom & I made a stop at Brandon's first to play some basketball.
I spent a few days showing Nana & Gramps all my tricks and hanging out with GG.
A fun time was had by all. There are some good pics of the event on my photos page.
Talk to you again soon!

Hangin' at Home
Wednesday, May 22, 2002 Edition
Hi all! I had to spend TWO weeks in a row at home.... with NO visitors... can you believe it? NO wonder I haven't had anything about which to write!
The BIG news this week is that I have started cereal. No, not Rice Krispies or Lucky Charms... not even Cheerios (don't I wish!) Just mushy, tasteless rice cereal. I did really well the first two times... until I figured out what my parents were trying to do. This is just one step in trying to cut down my mommy's milk. They were also talking about sleeping through the night. No way. I'm wise now. Mommy's milk tastes MUCH better, so whenever they come near me with that spoon, I cry and shut my mouth.
Mommy tried oatmeal cereal last night. Thank goodness she didn't make it as thick as Daddy likes HIS oatmeal. It doesn't taste any better than that rice stuff. (Think wallpaper paste... YUCK!)
I'm really good at opening my mouth & swallowing.... when I want to. Who knows what Mommy & Daddy will try next.
Back to that sleeping at night thing... well I'll show them! How dare they send Daddy in to try and rock me to sleep without feeding me. Last night I decided enough was enough, so I refused to sleep unless someone was holding me. I did this for more than an hour, but man, holding out is tiring work. Daddy finally wore me out around 1:30 this morning.
I'm sitting up really well during the day, but I still like to play most of the time on my back. Tummy time is fun, too... as long as its not too long. No rolling over, because I'm usually content enough where I am. I can move myself around in a little circular motion pivoting on my belly sometimes if I want a toy.
I'm really ticklish, and Mommy & Daddy love to make me laugh. We play a lot of fun games together.
This weekend I head down to Evansville for some family picnicking for Memorial Day! What fun!
Talk to you again soon!

Schenk Family Picnic
Tuesday, May 28, 2002 Edition
This weekend we went down to Evansville for Memorial Day. It was fun! We spent the weekend at Justin's house. He's getting a bit more used to me. He even shared a few of his toys. WOW! By the end of the weekend, he even gave me a kiss goodbye (even though I think it was because he was glad to see me go so he could have Grammy & Aunt Amy all to himself).
Sunday was the picnic. It was great that the whole family could be there. I got to see everyone... all my dad's aunts, uncles & cousins... and my cute cousin, Sophie. It was pretty impressive to get that crazy bunch all in one place. We partied over at Great Aunt Carol & Kitty's house. I love people so I really enjoyed myself. Everyone kept commenting on how I was such a great baby... but I was just enjoying the sights. I even skipped a few naps; I was having so much fun. Mommy & Daddy played washers & bocce and ate a lot. There was food all over the place. None for me this year, but next year I'm going to join the feast.
I tried some of my new sounds out on Grammy & Grandpa and showed them how I sat up by myself.
On Monday we went to the Evansville Zoo. It's a lot different than the one here. You can get a lot closer to the animals. I even got to feed a giraffe with Mommy (even though his tongue freaked her out). We saw a lot of different animals. Don't tell my Nonna that the HIPPO had the same name as she does!
After that, we went to my favorite restaurant.... Steak & Shake.... YUM!
I had a great time in Evansville! Can you believe that I turn SIX months old this week?!
Talk to you again soon!
