Christmas & more than we'd bargained for....
What a Christmas week we had! We are going to have to start directly depositing my college funds into my doctor's bank account the way things are going....
It started on Monday, December 22 when I had to go to the doctor for a rash I had on my face. I got some cream and the doctor said to put Vaseline on it. (She's like the father in Big, Fat Greek Wedding who puts Windex on everything... except she likes to use Vaseline!) The next morning Noah went into the surgery center to get tubes in his ears from the ear specialist. He did a GREAT job! We left for Evansville that same day.
We had a very nice eve of Christmas Eve (the 23rd) over at Aunt Amy's... even though Grandpa was sick with a bronchial infection & Aunt Carol was recuperating from the flu. We got lots of nice presents & had fun playing with Justin & Isabelle.
The craziness REALLY started late that night... or early morning... when Noah awoke with a FEVER! YUCK! He had a fever for two days. We thought at first it was due to his ears, but the doctor assured us it was not... So Mommy & Grammy had to stay at home from church with the boys and then we met everyone at Great Grandma's for a little bit of Christmas Eve. (Almost everyone else had been sick or were sick too... or at least had someone in their family who was!) It was fun to see everyone & I got to meet a lot of relatives I hadn't seen yet. Again, we received lots of neat presents!
Unfortunately, that night Daddy woke up at midnight with nausea and a fever. Mommy drove us back to Indy while Daddy, Noah & I just slept in the van. Mommy was determined at this point NOT to get sick, because she had a lot of work to do. Uncle Bryan & JJ flew in on Christmas Day... and Nonna, Grandpa & GG drove over from Columbus. BUT... by the time she got home, she was feeling feverish as well.
Since everyone was traveling on Christmas, we decided to celebrate the Bovitz Christmas on the 26th instead. We had to wait for Uncle JJ & Bryan to wake up since they were still on Washington time. We got to open a few of our presents, but then Mommy REALLY started to feel bad. She was able to sit through the delicious turkey dinner that Grandpa & Nonna fixed, but then she had to go to bed. She was in bed from 4 pm - 8 am the next morning! We didn't even get to finish unwrapping our presents.
Saturday the 27th was my baptism day. Aunt Amy & Uncle Tom are my godparents. They had called the night before to let us know Justin & Isabelle were sick too! They were troopers though and made the 3 hour drive up for the Mass & baptism afterwards. Some of the guests were nice enough to come over early even though they knew Mommy & Daddy had the flu. (Mommy went to the doctor's that morning & had them confirm it.) Mommy & Daddy did not feel well through the whole ceremony. Justin just clung to Aunt Amy. It was not pretty, but I am baptized! (and I was pretty cute in my baptism gown!!!) Aunt Sara arrived later that night too.
As if THAT wasn't enough.... GG had to go to the hospital the next morning!! She was having uncontrollable bodily jerking. Aunt Sara is a doctor & she woke up and helped. GG was in the hospital for a few days. She had a fever & an infection. She finally was discharged on New Year's Eve day... and Nonna & Grandpa took her right home to Columbus.
By Wednesday... Uncle JJ & Aunt Sara & Uncle Bryan had all left... but not before Uncle Bryan gave Noah LOTS of rides on the EAC. (He bought him a stuffed turtle & pretended they were in the movie Finding Nemo.) There were also several games of Tripoley played... a game that brought lots of memories too. We managed to have fun and enjoy our company despite the sickness. I really enjoyed meeting my uncles & aunt and sure wish they lived A LOT closer!!
We spent a quiet New Year's Eve with Mommy while Daddy was upstairs... still sick... throwing up! And, as the last hold out, I also got ran a fever that day, but I seem to be better now.
Tis the season..... FLU SEASON that is!
